This is a tricky question to answer because it depends on a great many variables:
- In what sort of climate is the data centre located?
How does the building bring in cold air and REMOVE hot air?
How much equipment do you use?
What types and models of equipment do you use?
- What standards have been set by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers? (These change frequently.)
Getting a handle on this information is important because overheated servers can be harmful to data. More importantly, unsafe working conditions might risk the wellbeing of the technicians who work on the servers.
