How do I Optimize an Infrastructure Deployment for the Digital Workplace?

This is the fourth blog in our insights-based series dedicated to designing an IT infrastructure for the digital workplace.

As we begin to enter the final steps for orchestrating a complete digital workplace infrastructure transformation, let’s take a look back at what we’ve accomplished in this blog series:

  1. We defined the infrastructure changes that are critical for the digital workplace
  2. We planned our zones of data exchange
  3. We identified the specific participants in distributed workflows
  4. We mapped workloads and performance attributes
  5. We set up parameters for a fit for purpose footprint

Along the way, we reorganized the need for:

  1. An infrastructure that is decentralized
  2. A view that users are distributed – not centralized
  3. A location-based design enabling the correct engagement models for customers, partners, and employees
  4. A focus on revenue, risk, and regulatory workflows to solve for business requirements
  5. A placement of security controls at the edge to provide real end to end security and telemetry

Now we are ready to optimize our digital workplace deployment.

We have to select deployments and match the configuration of the supporting footprints. Take this organizational chart (part of our overall design guide) and infuse your organization’s architectural standards to deploy complete digital workplace zones.

Note that it is common for multiple footprints to be deployed in different zones because it’s the optimal way to support the demands of the digital workplace successfully.

The footprint configurations are specifically designed to handle all aspects of your workflows, participants, workloads, and deployments via specially-designed hubs:

  • The Network Hub – solves global coverage, capacity and direct connectivity needs across major metros
  • The Control Hub – reduces IT vulnerability, secures application and data flow
  • The Data Hub – manages larger amounts of data, tethers to other hubs, enables creation for new/secure B2B data exchanges, solves for performance and data compliance
  • The SX Fabric – interconnects global workflows, solves multi-cloud networking complexities

As your digital workplace infrastructure launches into their deployment zones, all of these components will work in sync to drive your success.
